The Monroe Ohio Historical Society is an all-volunteer, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to discovering, collecting, preserving, and interpreting the history of Monroe, Ohio. Its work supports public education and enjoyment through historical research, publications, commemorations, and displays. The Society operates and maintains several local heritage sites: its museum building at 10 E. Elm Street, the historic 1910 Building General Store at 2 E. Elm Street, and a reconstructed pioneer log cabin in Monroe Community Park on South Main Street. Visitors can explore the museum on the first Saturday of each month from May through October, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., or arrange a private showing by appointment throughout the year, excluding holidays. The cabin is open during special events and by appointment.
