Monte Azul Foundation is a brand committed to creating sustainable rural communities by training the next generation of farmers. Founded in 2018, the foundation was established in response to the urgent needs post-Hurricane Maria to produce more local food and decentralize the electrical grid for rural and isolated communities in Puerto Rico. Led by Founder Andrew Hermann, who has extensive experience in Latin America and the Caribbean, Monte Azul aims to equip current and new farmers with the necessary skills and techniques needed to farm sustainably. The foundation operates an agricultural resource center with a farmer-to-farmer training element, providing assistance with operational challenges. Additionally, Monte Azul promotes the development of decentralized renewable energy systems, fostering long-term economic growth in rural areas.
