## Description

Mosquito Alert is a citizen science platform that brings together the public, scientists, and public health and environmental managers to investigate and help control mosquitoes that can transmit diseases. Its work focuses on the tiger mosquito, the yellow fever mosquito, and other invasive or monitored species associated with risks such as Zika, dengue, and chikungunya. Through the Mosquito Alert app, people can submit photographs and observations of mosquitoes, bites, and breeding sites. These reports support scientific research and help responsible organizations track mosquito presence and spread. The platform also provides an interactive map where users can explore findings, along with open data resources, including an observations database, a data portal, and an image dataset. Mosquito Alert combines public participation with scientific methods and digital technology to gather information at scale. Its activities include research collaborations, surveillance and control support, and public education to raise awareness of this global public health issue. The project is coordinated by CREAF, CEAB-CSIC, and ICREA.
