Mothers for Justice and Equality (MJE) is a brand dedicated to ending neighborhood violence in Roxbury, MA. Their mission is to empower mothers and youth to challenge the normalization of violence and become catalysts for change in their homes, schools, and communities. MJE provides targeted support, educational opportunities, and the chance to advocate for peace as a community.

By reclaiming the identity of their communities, MJE aims to restore hope and purpose. MJE serves individuals and families primarily in Roxbury, Dorchester, Jamaica Plain, Mattapan, and Hyde Park, Massachusetts, who are facing racial inequities, endangered by community violence, unemployed or at risk of job loss, living in poverty, homeless or at risk of homelessness, recent/undocumented immigrants, ESL speakers, struggling with physical and mental health needs, young parents, opportunity youth, and formerly incarcerated community members. Their approach is innovative, focusing on changing internal expectations and perceptions to counter violence.

Through education and engagement programs, MJE teaches civic action tools and provides opportunities for involvement.
