## Description

Mountain Rescue Aspen is a volunteer organization dedicated to saving lives through backcountry rescue and mountain safety education. With over 50 dedicated members, we are one of the oldest search and rescue teams in the state of Colorado. Accredited through the Rocky Mountain Region of the Mountain Rescue Association, we work hand in hand with the Pitkin County Sheriff’s office to provide search and rescue services in Pitkin County and mutual aid to other counties throughout Colorado. Our team of unpaid volunteers annually donates thousands upon thousands of person-hours to serve the community. We attend meetings and trainings, educate the public through our annual community avalanche seminar and the national Hug-A-Tree program, and engage in search and rescue missions. We are solely funded by donations and grants from our community; we have no tax base or public budget. Our facilities include the newly constructed C.B. Cameron Rescue Center, dedicated to rescue, training, and education. This facility stands as a testament to the gratitude we have for the Cameron family, whose rescue we performed many years ago. We are proud to continue giving back to the community. With a rich history in the Aspen area, Mountain Rescue Aspen has evolved to become a highly skilled team with certified qualifications in Search, High-angle rescue, scree rescue, avalanche rescue, and more. Our members have an average of 12 years of experience on the team. If you are interested in supporting our cause, donations of any amount are greatly appreciated. We also welcome individuals who are interested in becoming members to attend our monthly general meeting. Mountain Rescue Aspen is committed to serving our community and ensuring the safety of all who venture into the backcountry.
