## Description

Mourne Mountain Marathon is a two-day endurance and navigation event held each September in the Mourne Mountains of Northern Ireland. Welcoming participants from walkers to elite runners, it challenges teams of two to navigate mountain terrain and camp overnight while remaining self-sufficient. The event offers four competitive classes—Elite, B, C and D—covering approximately 35 to 55 kilometres over two days, with teams racing to visit a set number of control markers. A one-day Score class provides a different challenge: teams have six hours to collect as many points as possible.

Participants can expect demanding courses, mountain scenery, flexible start times on the first day, SPORTident race timing and a friendly event atmosphere. Entry also includes a T-shirt, car sticker and refreshments at the finish on day two. Prizes are available across a range of categories. The event is supported by Mac in a Sac and Lila’s Outdoors, and is run entirely by volunteers. Team entry fees vary by class, with reduced pricing for U23 and Adult-Junior teams.
