## Description

Movebank is an online platform that provides a wide range of services to researchers and wildlife managers around the world. Its primary goal is to help users manage, share, analyze, and archive animal tracking and other animal-borne sensor data. Movebank serves as a global archive for animal movement and behavior, aiming to address challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and infectious diseases. With long-term funding from the Max Planck Society and the University of Konstanz, Movebank offers a network of services centered around its extensive database of animal-borne sensor measurements. Users can upload data, manage data quality, and share their findings publicly or with select users. Movebank also offers mobile apps for field data collection and citizen reporting. The platform encourages collaborations and open access to animal movement data, enabling researchers and organizations to explore and analyze data. To facilitate advanced analysis, Movebank provides automated data processing and visualization tools through the MoveApps platform. Additionally, the Env-DATA System links data in Movebank to various environmental variables. Movebank serves as a valuable resource for researchers and conservationists, promoting the re-use of animal tracking data to gain insights into movement ecology, wildlife management, and important ecological patterns.
