## Description

Moving Child Care Forward is a Canadian research and knowledge-mobilization initiative focused on early childhood education and care (ECEC) policy. Funded through the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada’s Connections program, the project aims to broaden understanding of ECEC issues and deepen public and policy debate. Its work brings research into dialogue with policy and practice, helping inform responses to complex issues affecting young children and their families.

The project is a joint initiative of the Childcare Resource and Research Unit, the Centre for Work, Families and Well-Being at the University of Guelph, and Susan Prentice of the University of Manitoba’s Department of Sociology. Its resources include policy briefs and commentaries, structured around the questions “What?”, “So what?” and “Now what?” It also shares materials from the 2014 research conference, Research, Evidence and Policy: Mobilizing Knowledge, and maintains a directory of Canadian researchers working on ECEC policy. The directory supports connections and information-sharing about research, policy and practice developments across Canada.
