## Description

The Malaysian Public Library (MPL), also known as the Malaysian Public Library and Resource Development Centre, is a Kuala Lumpur library established in 1955 to encourage reading and preserve Chinese culture and heritage. Now based at Wisma HELP in Damansara Heights, it welcomes members of the public to explore a collection of more than 60,000 books, mostly in Chinese, spanning classical and modern literature. MPL supports discovery through its catalogue and book-search services, recommended reading, and access to e-books, online databases, journals and multimedia resources. Its programme extends beyond lending and research: the library organises cultural activities, exhibitions, reading events, talks and workshops, and awards or competitions, while also producing research publications and an e-newsletter. Events highlighted on its website include book launches, lectures and celebrations of Chinese festivals and traditions. Visitors can find membership registration information, library rules, announcements and opening-hour details online. Through its collections, digital resources and public programmes, MPL serves readers and communities interested in literature, learning and cultural heritage.
