## Description

Mount Pleasant Yacht Club is a sailing club based on the Avon and Heathcote Estuary (Ihutai) in Christchurch, New Zealand. It welcomes sailors of different ages and experience levels, with an active fleet that includes Lasers, Sunbursts, Optimists and P Class dinghies. Club racing takes place most weekends from September to April, giving members regular opportunities to sail and compete. The club also participates in Estuary Club series held in conjunction with Christchurch and Pleasant Point clubs.

Learning and development are central to the club’s activities. Its Learn to Sail programme offers lessons for both juniors and adults, supported by seasonal schedules and enrolment options. More experienced learners can progress through a coaching programme. Members can also access sailing results, standard sailing instructions, volunteer rosters and practical club manuals.

Located near the Ferrymead Bridge on the route towards Sumner, the club offers convenient boat launching and retrieval, with multiple ramps and wide shallows. Its clubhouse and recently completed modern boat shed provide facilities for club activities and boat storage.
