## Description

The MRGO Must Go Coalition, established in 2006, is a vital alliance focused on restoring the wetlands impacted by the Mississippi River Gulf Outlet (MRGO), a 76-mile navigation channel opened in the late 1960s. Formed in response to the devastation caused by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, the Coalition unites 17 diverse organizations dedicated to environmental restoration, social justice, and community welfare. Their mission emphasizes the urgent need for ecological healing in the Greater New Orleans area.

The Coalition has undertaken several key projects and released numerous reports that have influenced restoration initiatives, advocating for necessary funding and support for ecosystem revitalization. Despite facing challenges such as funding delays and regulatory conflicts, essential projects are currently poised for financial backing through the RESTORE Act, presenting a significant opportunity for progress.

With a commitment to protecting both natural habitats and local communities, the MRGO Must Go Coalition remains steadfast in its efforts to ensure timely and effective restoration efforts, fostering a sustainable future for the region.
