# MRV-Bielefeld - **Website:** - **Primary alias:** `mrv-bielefeld.de` ## Description MRV-Bielefeld is a friendly, active sailing club that brings people from Bielefeld together around a shared love of being on the water. With origins dating back to 1887, the club welcomes sailors of different experience levels and offers more than competitive racing: members can enjoy sailing, social events and time together in a relaxed community. The club is based at the Steinhuder Meer, where its house is just 100 metres from the jetty. Its fleet includes several dinghies, a Marinekutter ZK10, a sporty youth boat called Speedy and several Optimists. Members can use the boats and access the club’s house at the lake; in Bielefeld-Schildesche, the club also has a clubhouse and winter boat hall. The sailing season runs from April to October, with boats stored indoors over winter. MRV-Bielefeld offers opportunities to learn and practise sailing, and provides information about sport boat licence training. The club also arranges occasional yacht-chartering trips on the Baltic Sea, IJsselmeer or Mediterranean, alongside gatherings such as seasonal sailing events, a summer festival and barbecue celebrations.
