## Description

Sander Lab is a pioneering research facility dedicated to unraveling the complexities of pancreatic beta cell dysfunction in diabetes. Our mission revolves around understanding the molecular mechanisms that govern the formation and function of insulin-producing beta cells, which are critically impaired in diabetic conditions. Through innovative approaches, including genetic human pluripotent stem cell (hPSC)-based models and advanced mouse models, we seek to discover strategies for beta cell regeneration and replacement, aiming to pave the way for novel diabetes treatments.

Our research is characterized by a collaborative spirit and a multidisciplinary approach. Notably, we are part of the NIH-funded Human Islet Research Network (HIRN), where we are developing a 3D islet organoid-on-a-chip model. Additionally, through our involvement in the NIH-funded T2D-GENES Consortium, we examine how genetic predispositions to diabetes influence cellular behavior. We are committed to pushing the boundaries of diabetes research while contributing to the scientific community through publications and active participation in conferences.
