## Description

The Mt. Diablo Bird Alliance (MDBA), formerly known as the Mt. Diablo Audubon Society, is dedicated to fostering a sustainable balance between our community, avian wildlife, and habitats through conservation, education, and advocacy. The Alliance actively engages in protecting local ecosystems, conducting monitoring efforts for wildlife, and supporting environmental organizations with shared goals.

MDBA offers various educational programs, including birding classes, monthly programs, and activities for young birders aged 9-17, aimed at nurturing a love for birdwatching and environmental stewardship. The organization emphasizes equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging, creating welcoming environments for individuals of all backgrounds.

Through community science initiatives like Christmas Bird Counts and the Great Backyard Bird Count, MDBA encourages conservation participation. Their programs address ongoing concerns affecting wildlife, including educating the public on the impact of anticoagulant pesticides and promoting responsible pet ownership. With a commitment to enhancing public appreciation of birds and nature, MDBA plays an essential role in connecting people with the natural world.
