Welcome to Visit Mullerthal – the exceptional region known as the Little Switzerland of Luxembourg! Mullerthal Region, or Mëllerdall in Luxembourgish, owes its name to its hilly landscape reminiscent of Switzerland. But it's not just the scenery that sets Mullerthal apart – it's also the unique biotope marked by astonishing rock formations. The composition and erosion of the rocks have contributed to the creation of this typical landscape. The region's diverse natural and geological heritage makes it truly special. That's why the Natur- & Geopark Mëllerdall was established in 2016, and since 2022, it has been a part of the international network of UNESCO Global Geoparks. The combination of the Nature Park and Geopark emphasizes the special significance and preservation of the landscape. Echternach, considered the capital of Mullerthal, is also the oldest town in Luxembourg. It gained international recognition in 2010 when its famous Dancing Procession was inscribed on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list. Among the important tourist sites in the town are the Abbey Museum, Roman Villa, St. Willibrord Basilica, and Trifolion Cultural Center. The Mullerthal Trail takes experienced hikers on a 112 km journey through a magnificent hilly region. Guided by trails with peculiar names like Piteschkummer, Geierslee, or Huellee, Mullerthal's hiking paths lead through meadows and forests into untouched nature. Besides challenging hikes, the Mullerthal Region also offers a network of pleasant walks with breathtaking panoramas.
