The Music Center of Los Angeles County was born from Dorothy Buffum Chandler's vision of a performing arts center that would serve as a cultural focal point for Los Angeles — a center of arts and culture for the entire community. The Dorothy Chandler Pavilion opened in December 1964, its star-studded opening making international news and helping Los Angeles take a significant step forward as a world cultural city. Situated on an eleven-acre campus at 135 North Grand Avenue in downtown Los Angeles, the complex spans four iconic venues: the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Ahmanson Theatre, Mark Taper Forum, and Walt Disney Concert Hall. Home to four world-class resident companies — Center Theatre Group, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, LA Opera, and the Los Angeles Master Chorale — The Music Center welcomes over two million visitors annually. As one of the nation's largest performing arts centers, The Music Center brings together artists, communities and ideas with the goal of enriching the cultural lives of every Angeleno, serving as a driving artistic voice for diversity and inclusion that reflects the ever-evolving landscape of Los Angeles.
