## Description

Founded in 1931, the Music Institute of Chicago (MIC) is a nonprofit community music school that makes music education and performance accessible across the Chicago area. Through six Chicagoland locations, more than 130 teachers serve students of all ages and abilities, from beginners and casual learners to aspiring professionals. Programs include private lessons in 30 instruments, voice instruction, group classes, early childhood music, adult studies, ensembles, summer camps, and specialized Suzuki, jazz, and chamber music offerings.

For highly gifted pre-college string players and pianists, the nationally recognized MIC Academy provides comprehensive training for students who aspire to professional careers. MIC also presents concerts, master classes, workshops, recitals, and community programs designed to connect people with music and support lifelong learning. Its Nichols Concert Hall welcomes audiences for performances and events, while community initiatives work to broaden equitable access to music education and musical experiences. The institute’s teaching, performances, and service programs aim to educate and inspire while building strong, healthy communities.
