About

Description

Musquash Fire - Rescue (MFD) is a former Local Service District volunteer Fire Department, but was recently transitioned to Fundy Shores in 2023. With a team of approximately 50 dedicated volunteer members, including founding members and a Fire Chief with over 30 years of experience, MFD has been serving the communities of Chance Harbour, Dipper Harbour, Lepreau, Little Lepreau, Maces Bay, Musquash, and Prince of Wales since 1987. At Musquash Fire - Rescue, we specialize in fire suppression, salt & fresh water rescue, remote off-road rescue services, and other crisis assistance.

Our highly trained firefighters respond to fire incidents, motor vehicle accidents, and also provide medical assistance to Ambulance New Brunswick when requested. We pride ourselves on maintaining a high level of expertise in various fields such as vehicle stabilization and extrication, marine and fresh water rescue, hazardous material response, ice rescue, first aid, and more. We are proud to be partnered with Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station (PLNGS), making us the only external fire department in the area that is nuclear trained.

This allows us to work within a nuclear environment and participate in joint training sessions and emergency exercises at PLNGS. Furthermore, we collaborate closely with our neighboring fire departments to provide reciprocal mutual aid when needed. Our coverage area includes Route 1, the busiest highway in New Brunswick, between Mile Marker 74 and Mile Marker 105, as well as two pipelines that traverse the Musquash area: the Maritimes & Northeast Pipeline (M&NP) and the Brunswick Pipeline.

We work closely with both pipeline providers to ensure preparedness and expertise in case of any issues. Situated on the Bay of Fundy, we provide services for four federally owned fishing community wharfs and are proud members of the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary. In addition, we are authorized to issue Civic Address numbers and have the capability to make civic house signs.

The history of Musquash Fire - Rescue is reflected in our shoulder flash, which includes a map of New Brunswick with a nuclear atom and isotope symbol. This symbolizes our close relationship with the Point Lepreau nuclear power station. At Musquash Fire - Rescue, our dedicated team and specialized training ensure that we can provide timely and qualified assistance to residents and visitors alike.

Whether it's fire suppression, rescue operations, or medical assistance, we are here to serve and protect our community
