## Description

Mutual Aid NYC is a multi-racial network of people and groups dedicated to building support systems for individuals in the New York area, both during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond. Operating at a citywide level, their mission is to assist those actively working in communities by connecting them with the necessary people and resources to carry out their work effectively. With the belief that access to these resources is crucial, Mutual Aid NYC aims to enable mutual aid, advocacy, and services to reach as many people as possible. They have several goals, including providing support to local groups leading mutual aid efforts, identifying gaps in government responses, rallying resources to support community-led responses, and facilitating communication and connections between existing groups. Mutual Aid NYC serves as the primary contact point for those interested in getting involved or in need of mutual aid support. In times of crisis, when vulnerable communities are disproportionately affected, Mutual Aid NYC works to address existing inequalities and the shortcomings of government and social service institutions.
