## Description

The Indiana Writers' Center (IWC) is a dynamic nonprofit organization dedicated to nurturing a vibrant writing community in Indiana for over 40 years. Founded by writer and educator Jim Powell in 1979, the center's mission is to empower individuals of all ages and backgrounds to share their unique stories through writing. IWC offers a variety of educational programs, including courses and workshops led by esteemed authors in genres such as poetry, fiction, and memoir.

In addition to these offerings, the center hosts literary events, open mic nights, book discussions, and its annual Writer’s Gathering, which connects writers from across the state. The IWC also provides community outreach projects, serving diverse populations—including veterans and at-risk youth—through tailored writing initiatives. With a commitment to fostering creativity and communication skills, the Indiana Writers' Center not only supports established authors but also encourages voices that often go unheard, expanding the literary landscape and enriching community connections throughout the region.
