## Description

Virtual Pediatric Systems (VPS) is a collaborative organization that supports pediatric intensive care units (PICUs) through standardized data sharing, benchmarking, quality improvement, and research. Its community brings together hospitals and pediatric critical care professionals to compare practices, identify opportunities for improvement, and help advance care and outcomes for critically ill children.

VPS collects high-quality clinical data and provides members with customizable reports and dashboards for understanding PICU performance. Its products include myQueries, myDashboards, myComparativeReports, Discharge Delay, Admission Discharge Heatmap, and Electronic Data Submission. Comparative reporting enables participating units to benchmark against other PICUs or selected peer institutions, while granular data cover areas such as ventilation, cardiac arrest, procedures, complications, diagnoses, and neurological outcomes.

VPS also offers quality improvement training, workshops, and collaborative projects, alongside research support and access to a large pediatric critical care dataset. Its validated severity-of-illness models include PIM-3, PRISM III, PICSIM, and STS-EACTS. VPS shares research through publications, abstracts, posters, and presentations, and hosts conferences and educational opportunities for the pediatric critical care community.
