## Description

The BRIC-National Agri-Food and Biomanufacturing Institute, formerly known as NABI and CIAB, is an autonomous institute of India’s Department of Biotechnology. Established as the National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute in 2010, it aims to catalyse the transformation of India’s agri-food sector through biotechnology and related research. Its work spans agri-biotechnology, food and nutritional biotechnology, and technology transfer and outreach. The institute brings together scientists, research scholars, fellows, technical staff and administrative teams, and shares research publications and annual reports.

NABI provides access to research infrastructure and services, including high-performance computing, plant tissue culture, instrumentation and library facilities, as well as databases and bioinformatics software. It publishes user charges for instruments, computing and other services. The institute also supports research training and career development, with opportunities for scholars and fellows, and hosts scientific events and workshops. Through its research, facilities and outreach, the institute contributes to advancing knowledge and innovation across agriculture, food, nutrition and biomanufacturing.
