North America's Building Trades Unions (NABTU) is a labor organization that represents over 3 million skilled craft professionals in the United States and Canada. Comprised of fourteen national and international unions, as well as over 330 provincial, state, and local building and construction trades councils, NABTU is dedicated to creating economic security and employment opportunities for construction workers. NABTU focuses on various areas to achieve its goals. They work towards growing infrastructure investment and union construction jobs, safeguarding workplace standards, wages, and benefits, and promoting responsible private capital investments. NABTU also prioritizes investing in renowned apprenticeship and training programs, creating pathways to the middle class for women, communities of color, military veterans, and justice-involved individuals in the construction industry. In partnership with industry employers, NABTU sponsors Registered Apprenticeship training programs, which have proven to be effective in bringing new workers into the industry. The organization operates over 1,900 apprenticeship programs and annually invests almost $2 billion in training programs. NABTU also sponsors a network of Apprenticeship Readiness training programs that focus on recruiting and training underrepresented groups for Registered Apprenticeship programs. Overall, NABTU's mission is to not only protect the interests of its members but to create more work opportunities, family-sustaining wages, and maintain labor, training, safety, retirement, and benefit standards for all construction workers.
