About

Description

National Association of the Deaf (NAD) is the premier civil rights organization in the United States for deaf and hard of hearing individuals. Established in 1880, NAD's core values revolve around the use and preservation of American Sign Language (ASL) and the representation of the American deaf community. NAD's broad advocacy scope covers early intervention, education, employment, health care, technology, and telecommunications, aiming to improve the lives of millions.

NAD works collaboratively with specialized national deaf and hard of hearing organizations, as well as cross-disability coalitions, to carry out its federal advocacy work. Internationally, NAD represents the United States to the World Federation of the Deaf, a human rights organization. Membership, whether individual or organizational, enables NAD to ensure collective interests are seen and represented among policy makers and opinion leaders.

As a non-profit organization, NAD relies on generous donations to support its mission. Connect with NAD on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to stay updated on their initiatives
