長崎くんちは、長崎市の諏訪神社における秋季大祭で、1634年から続く伝統的な祭りです。毎年10月7日から9日にわたり、地域全体が一体となって開催され、多彩な奉納踊りが披露されます。祭りの起源は、当時の遊女が神前で「小舞」を奉納したことに由来し、長崎の文化や歴史と深く結びついています。現在、58の踊町からなるこの祭りでは、龍踊りや鯨の潮吹き、コッコデショなどの演し物が重要無形民俗文化財として評価されています。

長崎伝統芸能振興会は、この祭りの運営と振興を目的に設立され、地域の経済発展や観光促進に寄与しています。また、中央公園では多くの市民や観光客が奉納踊りを楽しめるスペースも提供しています。長崎くんちは、地域の人々に愛され続ける文化遺産です。
