## Description

The Naismith Basketball Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to honoring Dr. James Naismith, the Canadian inventor of basketball. Established in 1989, the foundation aims to promote awareness of Naismith's remarkable contributions to sports, theology, and medicine. Situated near Naismith’s birthplace in Almonte, Ontario, the foundation operates the Naismith Museum at the picturesque Mill of Kintail Conservation Area. This museum not only celebrates Naismith's legacy but also features the R. Tait McKenzie Memorial Museum, showcasing the bond between these two influential figures in sports history.

Through various educational initiatives, exhibitions, and community engagement, the Naismith Foundation seeks to inspire future generations by sharing the rich history of basketball and the values championed by Naismith. Visitors can explore the collections and participate in special events, making it a compelling destination for sports enthusiasts and history buffs alike. Join the foundation in celebrating the enduring impact of Dr. Naismith and the game he created.
