## Description

Nakano Champuru Festa is an annual summer festival celebrating the close ties between Okinawan culture and the community of Nakano, Tokyo. The 2026 event is scheduled for October 10 and 11, with activities planned around Nakano Station and nearby public spaces and shopping streets. Its program brings together traditional arts and contemporary entertainment, including energetic Eisa dance, Okinawan folk songs, sanshin music, pop, and other live performances. Eisa groups rooted in Nakano and the wider Tokyo area will perform on stage and take part in michijune, a lively procession through local streets. The festival also features Okinawan food and opportunities to experience the region’s culture through music, dance, and community participation. The announced performers include Okinawan music creators Nanaironote, along with artists and groups representing a range of styles, from folk and island music to electronic sounds and pop. Local dance, karate, and cultural groups also contribute to the event.
