## Description

Namesake is a baby-naming platform designed to help parents move beyond browsing and choose a name together. It combines a catalog of more than 47,000 names with name research, guided shortlist building, private parent brackets, and optional voting from family and friends. Parents can record their inspirations separately, set the priorities that matter to their family, and add rules to exclude unsuitable choices. Namesake then prepares a ranked longlist to review and take into a tournament.

Name profiles bring together meaning, origin, pronunciation, cultural context, related names, and popularity trends based on Social Security birth records. Users can browse names, themed collections, and practical guides without an account. The platform also offers a live baby-shower mode, where guests vote from their phones as a bracket appears on a shared display, and a surprise mode for revealing a winning name and the baby’s sex together. Free to begin, Namesake aims to make the decision thoughtful, collaborative, and grounded in the family’s values, preferences, and naming story.
