NAMI Massachusetts, also known as the National Alliance on Mental Illness of Massachusetts, is a nonprofit grassroots organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals living with mental health conditions, as well as their families and caregivers. With a mission dating back to 1982, NAMI Massachusetts strives to enhance the quality of life for those affected by mental illness. At NAMI Massachusetts, a team of dedicated professionals and volunteers work tirelessly to support NAMI members, programs, and affiliates across the state.

The organization is governed by an 18-member all-volunteer Board of Directors, comprised of individuals with diverse backgrounds and lived experiences in mental health. These individuals play a pivotal role in setting budgets, establishing policies, and providing guidance on program and priority matters. NAMI Massachusetts offers a range of programs and services tailored to different groups within the community.

These include NAMI Connection Recovery Support Groups and NAMI Peer-to-Peer for individuals with mental health diagnoses or symptoms, NAMI Family Support Groups and NAMI Family-to-Family for family members and friends, and NAMI Ending the Silence and NAMI In Our Own Voice for community members. Additionally, the organization provides advocacy opportunities, helpline services, and resources to help navigate mental health crises.
