## Description

The North American Network of Small Herbaria (NANSH) is a collaborative data portal designed to enhance the digitization of small herbarium collections and promote cooperation among institutions. This initiative, developed in partnership with the SEINet Herbarium Network and iDigBio's Small Herbarium Working Group, aims to make vital biodiversity data more accessible. Small herbaria play a crucial role in understanding North America's plant diversity, providing unique specimen collections that capture local ecological and taxonomic information often absent from larger repositories. 

NANSH facilitates the online availability of label data and specimen images, allowing researchers and enthusiasts to access a wealth of information that has historically been difficult to obtain due to logistical challenges. By harnessing community-supported digitization software, NANSH aims to increase the online visibility of these essential collections. With over 24 million records from more than 450 collections within the SEINet portal network, NANSH is a pivotal resource for advancing biodiversity research and education.
