## Description

Founded in 1902 by immigrants from Japan, the North American Post is the oldest, minority-owned publishing company in the Greater Seattle area. Located in Japantown, the company represents the rich history of the Japanese American community in the region. Despite being shuttered during World War II, the company was revived after the war with strong community support. Today, as one of the few surviving JA-owned publishers, the North American Post serves both JA and newly arriving Japanese natives. Bilingual articles in English and Japanese make it a focal point for information within the community, covering regional politics, community events, and businesses. It also highlights the history of JA and the broader Asian American community, exploring the experiences of early Asian immigrants and the Pan-Asian American Civil Rights movement. With a commitment to preserving and spotlighting Asian American history, the North American Post plays a vital role in educating and inspiring the community.
