## Description

NaPoWriMo, short for National Poetry Writing Month, is an annual initiative where poets challenge themselves to write a poem every day throughout April. Founded by Maureen Thorson, a poet from Washington, DC, NaPoWriMo started in 2003 as a personal project inspired by National Novel Writing Month. What began as a blog posting poems evolved into a widespread movement as more poets joined in. To accommodate the growing community, a dedicated website was created with the help of 2the9design. It's important to note that NaPoWriMo is not a commercial venture; there are no fees or endorsements involved. The focus is simply on fostering a love for poetry and inspiring creativity. No personal information is required to participate, emphasizing inclusivity and artistic expression. Whether you're a seasoned poet or a beginner, NaPoWriMo welcomes all to join this poetic journey.
