NARMC (North Arkansas Regional Medical Center) is an innovative, non-profit healthcare system that consists of a central hospital in Harrison, Arkansas, and 13 clinics serving the rural communities of North Arkansas. With over 850 dedicated employees, including 32 physicians, physician assistants, and APRNs, NARMC provides a comprehensive range of healthcare services. The history of NARMC dates back to the early 1900s when the need for a public hospital in Boone County became evident. After several failed attempts, the first hospital, known as Harrison-Harvey Hospital, opened in 1924. However, it eventually closed down due to operational challenges. In 1930, the community made another attempt to establish a city hospital, but it wasn't successful. Finally, in 1950, the Boone County Hospital was completed under the Hill-Burton Act. Over the years, it underwent expansions and changes and in 1986, it was renamed North Arkansas Regional Medical Center to better reflect its regional status and wide range of services. Today, NARMC continues to grow and evolve to meet the healthcare needs of the community, providing exceptional care close to home.
