## Description

The Nashville Chapter of the Tennessee Ornithological Society (NTOS), established on October 7, 1915, is dedicated to the study, conservation, and enjoyment of birds in the region. This organization emerged from the larger Tennessee Ornithological Society and has evolved to foster a diverse community of bird enthusiasts. NTOS actively engages its members through monthly meetings held at Radnor Lake State Park, seasonal bird counts, and special events such as Audubon’s Annual Christmas Bird Count, continuing a tradition since its inception.

The chapter offers an array of activities including educational programs aimed at enhancing knowledge of avian species, exciting field trips, and coordinated bird banding research. NTOS welcomes birders of all ages and backgrounds, providing opportunities for everyone to participate in conservation efforts and community outreach. By maintaining records of bird sightings and promoting habitat protection, NTOS plays a vital role in advancing ornithological knowledge and fostering a deeper appreciation for birds within the Greater Nashville area.
