National Black Theatre (NBT) is a pioneering brand in the world of theater. Established in 1968 by Dr. Barbara Ann Teer, an acclaimed performer and visionary entrepreneur, NBT holds the distinction of being the first revenue-generating Black art complex in the United States. As the longest-running Black theater in New York City and one of the nation's oldest theaters operated by a woman of color, NBT has a rich history and a profound impact on African American cultural identity.
