## Description

National Eat Local Day is a celebrated initiative founded by Chef Sarah Stegner and Cindy Kurman to promote the consumption of locally sourced food. Observed on September 22, this day encourages individuals to create meals with ingredients from nearby producers and invites chefs and restaurants to feature at least one locally sourced dish on their menus. The movement aims to raise awareness of the significance of supporting sustainable, local farms. Chef Sarah Stegner, co-executive chef and owner of Prairie Grass Cafe in Northbrook, Illinois, plays a pivotal role in this initiative with her impressive culinary background and commitment to sustainability. Alongside her partners, she has cultivated a menu that highlights local produce, fostering a connection between the community and local farmers. Cindy Kurman, president of Kurman Communications, complements this effort by promoting awareness of sustainable eating practices through media relations and marketing efforts. Together, they are making strides in enhancing the accessibility of local, sustainable foods.
