## Description

National Heroes Day is a United States initiative founded to honor everyday people whose courage, selflessness, and integrity make a difference in their communities. Observed each year on July 20, the day recognizes individuals who save lives, face overwhelming challenges, serve as role models, and inspire others through their actions. The organization encourages people to celebrate heroes on the designated day and throughout the year, particularly those whose contributions might otherwise go unrecognized.

The initiative shares stories of featured heroes, invites the public to submit hero stories, and provides updates and news through its website. It also highlights the Congressional Resolution introducing National Heroes Day and offers information about the individuals who inspired its founding: four young men who acted to protect others during the 2012 Aurora theater shooting. Through these tributes and public participation, National Heroes Day aims to preserve the stories of ordinary people who demonstrate extraordinary bravery and compassion, and to foster wider recognition of their service and sacrifice across the country.
