## Description

National Rail provides travel information and digital services for the Great Britain rail network, while making a range of rail data available to developers. Its APIs and XML feeds support third-party applications and draw on three key systems: Darwin, Knowledgebase and the Online Journey Planner. Darwin supplies real-time train running information, including arrival and departure predictions, platform details, delays, schedule changes and cancellations. It also provides access to historical service performance for up to one year. Knowledgebase offers static and real-time information such as station facilities, disruptions and engineering works, through XML files and a RESTful API. The Online Journey Planner supports route planning, fare calculations and ticket availability, using Darwin updates to reflect changes to train services; its feeds are offered under formal licence. National Rail also directs developers to the Rail Data Marketplace, which provides access to public and commercial rail data, and supports engagement through developer events and forums.
