## Description

The Native Northeast Research Collaborative is a brand dedicated to addressing the issues surrounding resources on New England Native communities. Recognizing the general lack of published primary source materials and the difficulties in accessing them, this collaborative effort by several institutions has resulted in The Native Northeast Portal. This electronic database is a comprehensive collection of New England Native American primary source materials that have been digitized, transcribed, annotated, and edited to the highest academic standards. By providing annotated transcriptions, the Portal offers users a well-researched and balanced context necessary to understand the complexities of the historical record. It aims to provide students, educators, researchers, Native American tribal members, and the general public with visual and intellectual access to significant historical knowledge. Through this initiative, the brand encourages new scholarship and promotes a greater understanding and appreciation of New England's earliest culture among a broader segment of the general public.
