## Description

Nature PEI, formally the Natural History Society of Prince Edward Island, is a registered charitable nonprofit established in 1969 and governed by a volunteer board. The organization promotes understanding, appreciation, and conservation of the Island’s flora, fauna, and diverse ecosystems, while advancing citizen science across the province.

Nature PEI brings people together through field trips, special events, and monthly meetings held from October to June. Activities welcome participants of all ages and experience levels, and meetings feature natural history presentations and opportunities to share recent observations. The society also takes part in initiatives such as bird counts and seasonal mushroom surveys.

Its citizen science projects invite people to learn about conservation and record observations of local wildlife and plants. Current work includes a freshwater snail project, mushroom surveys, and efforts to reduce bird collisions with windows, including distributing avoidance tape. Nature PEI also provides educational resources and publications on topics such as species at risk, birds, and mammals of Prince Edward Island.
