## Description

Naval War College Nigeria (NWCN) is a professional military education institution in the Nigerian Navy, established in 2017 to strengthen the operational capacity and leadership of senior officers. Based in Calabar, the College prepares naval leaders and selected equivalents from other services and friendly countries to command, plan, and make decisions in complex maritime, joint-operations, and national-security settings. Its mission is to develop operational-level commanders with a strong understanding of national security challenges and the application of maritime force.

NWCN’s flagship offering is the nine-month Naval Warfare Course, which covers operational art, campaign design, maritime and joint operations, strategy, policy, leadership, and ethics. Other programmes include a three-week Command-Level Leadership Course and modules in strategic studies, maritime security, and joint and combined operations. Teaching combines lectures, seminars, syndicate discussions, war games, field studies, and applied research. Participants also undertake supervised research and may engage in operational exercises and international activities.
