## Description

NCAER, the National Council of Applied Economic Research, is India’s oldest and largest independent economic policy research think tank. Established in New Delhi in 1956, it combines rigorous economic analysis with extensive data collection to inform public policy and support evidence-based decision-making. Its research spans national growth and macroeconomics, human development, agriculture, industry, trade, technology, skills, health, gender, state economies, and policy evaluation. NCAER also works on computable general equilibrium modelling, investor education and protection, and data innovation.

The organisation undertakes research studies and impact assessments for governments, institutions, and other stakeholders. Its outputs include books and reports, working papers, journal articles, policy briefs, opinion pieces, and the Monthly Economic Review. Surveys and data resources, including the India Human Development Survey, complement its policy research. NCAER shares its findings and expertise through workshops, events, videos, podcasts, and regular updates. With its broad research capabilities and focus on quality, relevance, and impact, the organisation contributes analysis and data to debates on India’s economic and social development.
