The North Carolina Public Transportation Association (NCPTA) is the leading voice for public transit in North Carolina. With a mission to enhance public transportation for all, NCPTA provides advocacy, education, and collaboration to support its members and communities. Celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2023, NCPTA represents 92 public transportation providers across the state. These providers range from large market urban transit systems operating light rail vehicles and large buses to smaller market rural transit systems operating a few vans. NCPTA believes that every public transportation service, regardless of size, plays a crucial role in the overall transportation infrastructure of communities. NCPTA is proud to have 63 strong business partners, including educational institutions, governmental agencies, transit industry products, professional service providers, and vehicle manufacturers. These partners support NCPTA members in continuously improving the efficiency and effectiveness of transportation services. Governed by a dynamic and diverse 23-member board of directors, NCPTA is committed to advocating for public transit, maintaining economic mobility, freedom of travel, and enhancing the quality of life for both citizens and visitors in North Carolina.
