## Description

The North Carolina Native Plant Society is a charitable, 501(c)(3) membership organization dedicated to promoting the enjoyment and conservation of North Carolina’s native plants and their habitats. Founded in 1951, it has grown into a statewide network of more than 2,400 members, supported by chapters across the state. Its work combines education, habitat protection, cultivation, and advocacy to help people understand and conserve native plant life.

The Society offers practical resources for gardeners, including recommended plants and trees, landscaping guidance, habitat certification, seed-collection information, and directories of native plant nurseries. Its plant galleries and search tools help users identify native and non-native species, while educational materials include books, printable handouts, videos, and speaker presentations. Members and the public can also take part in events and chapter activities, and the organization provides grants and scholarships for projects that advance its mission. Through policy advocacy, it encourages public decisions that support native plants and habitats and address invasive species.
