## Description

NEAR Foundation is a non-profit organization based in Switzerland that exists to enable community-driven innovation for the benefit of people around the world. With the goal of minimizing its own scope and footprint, NEAR Foundation devolves functions and resources to the ecosystem, supporting the development of decentralized infrastructure necessary for the ecosystem to operate in a self-sufficient manner. The foundation raises awareness and supports the growth of the ecosystem, championing the development of a decentralized and autonomous ecosystem. NEAR Protocol, a platform provided by NEAR Foundation, overcomes barriers in the Web3 space, such as complicated UX and high scaling costs. In 2023, NEAR unleashed the Blockchain Operating System (BOS) as an open-source alternative to tech giants like Google and Facebook. BOS is a secure, transparent, carbon-neutral platform that simplifies the complexities of the Web3 space. NEAR Protocol also offers limitless creation opportunities with JavaScript and Rust, unparalleled scaling with Nightshade sharding, and limitless usability with a focus on user experience and development experience.
