## Description

The National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA) is the national assessment body responsible for administering national examinations for schools and teacher examinations at certificate and diploma levels in Tanzania. Its work includes examinations ranging from primary and secondary assessments to advanced secondary and teacher education qualifications. The council provides information on examination types, schedules, registration, results, and assessment requirements through its website.

NECTA supports school candidates, private candidates, pupils, students, and teachers. School candidates are registered through the PReM and PReMS systems, while private candidates begin by obtaining a reference number from their intended examination centre. Candidates can access results online or by SMS, and users can generate payment control numbers for NECTA services, including payments through mobile phones.

The council also publishes examination formats for assessed subjects and guidelines for preparing assessment tools and procedures that accommodate learners with different abilities and needs. Additional resources include publications, frequently asked questions, news, and public notices.
