## Description

Neewollah, a vibrant festival celebrated in Independence, Kansas, began in 1919 as a positive alternative to Halloween pranks, aiming to provide wholesome activities for the community. Over the years, it has transformed into Kansas' largest annual festival, attracting thousands of visitors and increasing the town's population from approximately 8,500 to 75,000 during the nine-day celebration.

The festival features an exciting lineup of events, including three parades—the Doo Dah Parade, Kiddie Parade, and Grand Parade—as well as a spirited Chili Cook-off and a musical performance. The highlight is the crowning of Queen Neelah, with festivities complemented by more than 30 food vendors, a carnival, and a bandstand showcasing nightly entertainment. Additionally, the Arts and Crafts show and Fun Run provide diverse activities for all ages.

Supported by over 500 dedicated volunteers, Neewollah celebrates community spirit, creativity, and tradition, making it an unmissable event each year in Kansas.
