# Nelson Nordic Ski - **Website:** - **Primary alias:** `nelsonnordicski.ca` ## Description Nelson Nordic Ski Club is a member-driven, volunteer-powered organization based in the mountains above Nelson, British Columbia. Founded in 1979, the club maintains more than 30 kilometres of groomed trails through the West Kootenay wilderness, with routes for classic and skate skiing, as well as snowshoeing. The trail network includes riverside paths, the Clearwater climb and old-growth cedar forest, offering terrain for visitors of different ages and abilities. The club provides season memberships and day passes, trail maps, grooming and trail-condition updates, and access to its facilities. Its programs support skiers at every stage, from beginner lessons and adult instruction to youth programs, weekly Jackrabbits and school outreach. Nelson Nordic also hosts events, including competitive races such as the Teck Kootenay Cup, and offers opportunities for families to enjoy the trails together. Located about 20 minutes from downtown Nelson on Highway 6 toward Salmo, the trailhead has free parking.
