## Description

The Earth Systems and Climate Change (ESCC) Hub, operational from 2015 to 2021, was a prominent collaborative initiative comprising Australia’s leading institutions in Earth systems and climate research, including CSIRO, the Bureau of Meteorology, and several major universities. Hosted by CSIRO, the Hub sought to bridge science and policy, enabling informed decision-making on climate issues across various levels of government and sectors, including finance and Indigenous communities.

Focusing on critical research areas, the ESCC Hub prioritized understanding historical and current climate dynamics, predicting future changes, and enhancing the utility of climate data. Its comprehensive approach produced invaluable resources—data, tools, and publications—that addressed significant challenges such as hydroclimate variability, food security, and disaster risk management.

The ESCC Hub was part of the National Environmental Science Program and paved the way for the ongoing Climate Systems Hub, continuing its mission of empowering stakeholders with the best scientific information for a resilient Australia.
