## Description

The Neustadt Family is dedicated to promoting literary excellence and fostering a deep appreciation of literature through their significant contributions to the University of Oklahoma. Founded by Walter Neustadt Jr., who established the prestigious Neustadt International Prize for Literature in 1972, the family continues to support a range of literary initiatives. Their commitment is exemplified in the NSK Neustadt Prize for Children’s and Young Adult Literature, named in honor of Walter's daughters, which aims to highlight and celebrate exceptional contributions in children's literature every two years.

In addition to these awards, the Neustadt Family has enriched educational resources at the university through notable gifts, including the creation of the Neustadt Wing of the Bizzell Memorial Library and the endowment of important teaching positions. Their legacy also extends to the annual Neustadt Lit Fest, which showcases writers, artists, and scholars, creating a vibrant community dedicated to literature and cultural understanding. Through these endeavors, the Neustadt Family champions the power of the written word as a means for promoting global cooperation and understanding.
